The Lower Salmon River is the second deepest river gorge in North America (deeper than the Grand Canyon). It meanders through the Frank Church Wilderness, the second largest wilderness area in the contiguous United States, and is also the last free flowing river in the United States. Because there are no dams, sand is carried downstream from high creeks and tributaries and deposited in beautiful white sand beaches in the river corridor. Outward Bound groups travel over seventy river miles while exploring many historical and cultural sites along the river and travelling through Hell’s Canyon, the deepest canyon in the country.
Northwest Outward Bound School offers Classic and Adult Courses rafting the Salmon River as well as all female courses on the Salmon River in Idaho.
