Job Description
Provide oversight for the well-being of the organization. This includes budget familiarity and approval, taking an active part in high level organizational decision-making, publicly interpreting the organization’s work and values to various communities, and keeping up to date and active in the business of the organization.
Attend four Board meetings each year. Two are in-person board meetings. One is a half day meeting held in either Portland or Seattle. The other is a weekend retreat held at one of the NWOBS Base camps. The remaining two are half day Zoom calls, which generally take place on a weekday afternoon.
Attend four one-hour updates, one each between formal Board meetings, typically held on weekday evenings.
Participate on at least one Board committee and attend scheduled committee calls throughout the year.
Support and actively participate in advising and developing the NWOBS leadership team.
Play a leading role in NWOBS’s annual unrestricted fund, annually contributing personally or leveraging $2,500 or more.
Participate in and support key NWOBS events, including annual fundraising luncheons or dinners, alumni events, and Board-hosted Invitational Expeditions.
Actively participate in outreach on behalf of the organization to bring in fresh talent and make new connections to advance the mission of Outward Bound.
