About the Tribal Youth Partnership Program

In 2018, the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and the Northwest Outward Bound School partnership was established to build culturally relevant programs in Central Oregon for youth of the Warm Springs, Wasco and Paiute tribes. All participating tribal youth receive fully-funded scholarships, beginning with rafting courses on the Deschutes River, and expanding to other programs of interest. In collaboration with leaders in the tribal community, the partnership merges Northwest Outward Bound School’s outdoor educational structure with the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs culturally significant program design and outcomes. The goal of the program is to provide inspiration and pathways for tribal youth as outdoor instructors and other leadership opportunities within the outdoor industries.
