Enrollment and Admissions Process
Step 1: Find a Course.
To find the right course for your needs try using our Course Finder tool. If you need assistance or have questions about our courses you can call us directly as well (503) 946-3404 option 3.
Step 2: Enroll and pay a deposit.
Once you have chosen your expedition select enroll. Here you will be asked to complete a short online application and submit a $500 deposit. This deposit includes a $150 non-refundable processing fee. If you would rather do this over the phone please call the National Admission Office, (866) 467-7651.
Once you have applied, one of our student services representatives will send you a registration packet via email. This email will contain important paperwork such as: forms for you to fill out and return, information about course and a packing list. You will not receive the registration packet with these items until you have completed Step 1 and 2.
Step 4: Send us the completed forms.
Complete all the required forms in the registration packet and submit to us by email, upload, fax or mail. If you choose to email, please submit your forms in PDF format and email to [email protected]for Oregon courses and[email protected]for Washington Courses with your name and course number in the subject line.
Step 5: Complete an interview phone call.
After your Course Advisor receives all of the required paperwork, then they will send an email to schedule a short phone interview with the student.
Step 6: Pay for your course.
Course tuition is due on or before 90 days before your course start date. Payments can be made through your Student Portal.
Step 7: Receive approval email.
After you have been approved, arrange travel only if you have been notified that the group minimum has been met.
Step 8: Get ready for the challenge.
Start preparing mentally and physically for your Northwest Outward Bound School course. You don't have to be a world-class athlete to complete an Outward Bound course. In fact, most of our courses are designed for the average person who is looking for a physical, mental and social challenge. Still, your level of physical readiness will affect your experience.
